OSB Hellenen with another road victory in Rosenheim

Autor: Omari Knox

OSB Hellenen led the game from start to finish. The first quarter was won 27:23 by the Munich team. Rosenheim guard Jguwon Hogges stole the ball and scored a layup in the final seconds of the quarter to close the gap to four points. Coach Dictapanidis was not very pleased at the number of points allowed by his team. The defense picked up in the second quarter from both teams with OSB Hellenen going into the half leading 45:42.

The third quarter featured much of the same with both teams making their runs, while the other countered. In the first six minutes, Hellenen would build an 8-point lead only to have Rosenheim answer and close the gap back to 4 points at the end of the quarter. Hellenen however had won the 3rd quarter 16:15.

In the first three minutes of the final quarter, Hellenen would try to pull away. The Helles built a 9-point lead. Then again the Spartans would close their gap to just one point (68:69). This caused Coach Dictapanidis to call a timeout and settle his team down. Out of the timeout, Hellenen would pull away with timely baskets from Omari Knox and Ben Kitatu and good free throw shooting from Jermaine Lippert and David Markert. Hellenen would go on to win the game 86:74. They out-rebounded the Rosenheim team 43-32. They also converted on 23 of their 28 free throws, while Rosenheim missed 11 (14-25).

OSB Hellenen also enjoyed having four players in double-figured scoring. Knox led all scorers with 29 points to go along with his season high 14 rebounds. Lippert added 22 points and 9 rebounds. Kitatu had a double-double of his own with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Markert contributed 15 points of his own respectively.

With this win Hellenen holds on to the 6th position. The Helles welcome second-placed Treuchtlingen next weekend, in hopes of extending the winning streak to three.
